Ribbon Cutting at the Midland Park Group Home in May 1998

LOU’s first group home opened in 1998 in Glen Rock, New Jersey. This group home was established to meet the residential needs of elderly, medically frail individuals who came to us from the closing of the North Princeton Developmental Center. In the years that followed LOU opened three more group homes in surrounding communities in Bergen County close to it’s corporate offices in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

LOU has deliberately kept it’s residential programs small in number in order to ensure a high quality of living and foster a close family environment for our clients. Each of our homes are within a 20 minute van ride from one another. Thus, allowing our residents to visit other LOU residents and group homes often and easily. In 2017, we expanded our residential programs into Passaic County as we acquired a group home from an agency that was closing.

Our day program opened in 1998 to originally meet the needs of our Glen Rock residents. It soon opened it’s doors to include other LOU clients and individuals living with other agencies. LOU’s day program offers a wide variety of center and community based activities. Thus, offering our day program participants an interesting and educational way to spend their day.

Each and everyone of us adds to our history each day…therefore, this is to be continued…
